winter…

Winter is here… its really hard to believe the year is nearing half way. I finally had a spare moment and sat at the sewing machine a few days ago….

autumn…

It’s been a little slow here on the LUcÉ blog, as things have been a little crazy around here with our design studio, which has resulted in a little break from the sewing machine.

However, I have been back at it lately busily creating for the up coming market, The Finders Keepers. The above image is from the new Autumn collection I have been working on. Pop over the the LUcÉ facebook page to see more of the Autumn collection.

I am constantly inspired by my large collection of vintage Japanese kimono fabrics. They are usually my starting point when I begin a LUcÉ piece. The fabrics are essentially the core of my inspiration and I love putting them together in unusual ways with contrasting patterns and textures.

I have spent a tiny bit of time in Japan (a long time ago now) and it was an absolutely inspiration. I adore Japan and am so saddened by what this beautiful country and its people are currently going through, it is simply heart breaking.

In ode to Japan and the wonderful fabrics I create from I am making a donation to the Red Cross Japanese Appeal from LUcÉ. Heart felt thoughts and prayers to everyone effect by the natural disaster in Japan.

our land…

Ode to our beautiful land… on this day the 26th January… Australia Day.

These are some holiday photos from around the Snowy Mountains, where we camped over the Christmas break – its such a beautiful place.

sunshine…

Holiday sunshine… already missing it… Officially back at work tomorrow.

I will hopefully get around to posting more photos of our camping holiday soon…

Something very exciting to finish the year with… a little feature on us…

enjoy…

Tools are officially down, sewing machine is off and its time for a little rest…

Its been another year full of creations and craziness, thank you to everyone… my family, my friends, my loyal customers, my new customers, my stockists and my H… for the laughs, the encouragement, the support and the kind compliments.

Have a wonderful Christmas, a special New Year and enjoy the summer ahead… I know I can’t wait!

creative stamps…

Looking for a creative, handmade, sustainable gift for the kids this Christmas?

Two Degrees Stamps are a little side project for LUcÉ… Created by Ennis & Perry (my day job)… We illustrated, designed, crafted, assembled and created all of the landscape stamps sets ourselves. You can see all the fun of how we created the stamps on the Two Degrees Blog.

We spend some of our spare time exploring our beautiful, natural Australian landscape. This inspired us to create the stamp sets. We wanted to produce something sourced locally, from reclaimed and natural materials, something that encouraged kids to explore their creativity, use their imagination and be inspired by our beautiful land.

The Two Degrees Stamps, are available in two set’s of hand crafted natural rubber stamps for kids featuring local Australian landscapes creating beautiful scenes that are never the same.
The High Plains Landscape Stamp Set

The Two Degrees Stamps sets are hand crafted from natural vulcanised rubber and mounted on reclaimed Tasmanian celery top pine (which is safe for children to chew and impervious to water). The sets come in handmade bags, that can used for storage.

We currently have a Christmas sale on, you can pop over to our online shop to grab a great gift for the kids.

sunday…

Such a perfect Sunday… It felt so nice to just have a day to potter around… it’s the first couple days off in a while and whilst I was going to head along and check out The Design Market at Federation Square, I just couldn’t find the motivation. I’ve managed to get started on some things that have been on my ‘to do’ list for a long time.

I hand washed this beautiful vintage table cloth in preparation for our picnic at Heide today, but unfortunately we didn’t make it there.

I love Heide. It is one of the most interesting places in Melbourne, we are so lucky to have this special place.

One of my all time favourite Australian artists is Joy Hester. I adore her work – pure, honest, simple and direct.

Joy spent a large amount of time at Heide when it was a thriving artists haven. This is a great picture of her and her then husband, Albert Tucker, at Heide.

One of Joy Hester’s beautiful artworks… ‘Girl holding flowers’ 1956

I’ve also managed to make a start on little studio clear out and clean up… Stay tune, there may be a little Christmas Sale coming up.

Started to wash and prepare my saved up jars for some relish making in the near future. Still trying to decide wether to make some ‘beetroot relish’ or some ‘onion relish’… I would love to try to make some preserved lemons as well. We’ll see how that one goes.

Most exciting of all is that we have our Christmas Tree up. Well, it more of a branch than a tree, but I think still looks festive and pretty.

Best of all we used some our vintage letters as decorations…

inspired…

Absolutely love and am inspired by the colour, the patterns and the detail…

adelaide…

The beautiful Christmas door that greeted you at Magnolia Square in Norwood, Adelaide. The Norwood Concert Hall, is a beautiful venue and all the stall holders did a fantastic job setting up. As did the girls from Magnolia Square, creating a enchanting Christmas theme for the hall. You can see more beautiful photos from Adelaide at their Snippets Blog.

I was next to wonderful girls from Leoni & Vonk, who kept me entertained over the three days, with plenty of crazy stories and laughs. There was such a lovely mix of retailers at Magnolia Square and it was so lovely to catch up with so many of you and meet some great new retailers as well.

Here are the girls from Leoni & Vonk at their stall, displaying all their beautiful pieces. It was so much fun hanging out with Nicky and Maria, can’t wait for the next one with the girls.

I was also lucky enough to bring home a few special little pieces just for me… these amazing earring from Sarah Rothe and this special little birdie brooche from Linda and Delila Devine.

I was also very lucky to bring home one of the antique clock face pendants from Leoni & Vonk, which I love to bits. Thank you girls xx

And, as always, I let myself keep one piece from the LUcÉ collections I create. This one was the piece I decided to keep. It is made from 100% recycled vintage kimonos, I love it. It is so comfortable and I had so many nice compliments, I will definitely be making some more pieces like this.

You’ll next find LUcÉ at the Sister’s Market at St Kilda Town Hall on the 11th December, it will the last event for LUcÉ this year, so make sure to pop along. Its going to be a huge event, we’ll also be bringing along our little handmade rubber stamps, Two Degrees, which make a great Christmas gift for the kids.
