I thought I would post this beautiful yellow flowering gum… we bought a little bunch on Friday whilst we were in Gertrude Street. It is from Mr Lincoln, they have an amazing selection of flowers. I could spend a small fortune there.

Whilst I have been very busy with Ennis & Perry, working on some lovely collages. I have also managed to get quiet a bit of sewing done along the way. The wonderful Erin from ecoHaven in Hobart took a very large load of ladies clothing, children’s clothing and scarves back to Tasmania last week. So do pop into her shop, if you are in Hobart.

Little Salon in Gertrude Street and Little Collins Street, is also stocked and ready for winter, with plenty of LUcÉ handmade scarves.

Sister’s Market is also coming up at the Brunswick Town Hall on June 12, so I’ll have to get cracking on some more sewing as soon as I can.

I was also lucky enough to be involved in the launch of  the newest Melbourne fashion market, The Up & Comers Fashion Market it was such a great day. Loads interesting stalls with great fashion, the beautiful Ormond Hall and Belgium Beer!

Oh… well… I do have a very good excuse! We have moved…. and I hate moving with a passion…

Our previous abode was upstairs in a beautiful apartment. So now, I hate stairs! Although I have to say I am feeling a tiny bit fitter from going up and down those damn stairs thousands of times over the last few weeks.

Just before moving, I had Magnolia Square. Three days in the beautiful St Kilda Town Hall. It is a stunning building, I particularly loved the raw bricks that were near by my stall.

I took a few very quick snaps on the Thursday morning, before the doors opened. They are a tad blurry, as I was a tad tired, and we hadn’t even started yet!

I also launched a new LUcÉ handmade product at Magnolia Square. The LUcÉ handmade sleeve scarf… It’s a great simple scarf, really easy to use, wear and get loads of use with winter coming up. Once my little studio is set up, I’ll get some uploaded to the store.

We have most of the unpacking done, the garden is all set up with its little bonsai’s, the kitchen is well, nearly sorted… Our design studio, Ennis & Perry Creative is up and running. So next on the unpacking list is LUcÉ!

Kimono fabric drying in the sunlight… It is so pretty… I got to use a good stash of my kimono fabric over the weekend. All the new creations will be heading Magnolia Square in 10 days time… You can find out about Magnolia Square at http://www.magnoliasquare.com.au/

They are going to be at an exciting new venue, the St Kilda Town Hall. It starts on Thursday 18 and runs until Saturday the 20th March.

I often find that each of my jobs can influence the other. Turning a flat page into something new and interesting is not dissimilar to sewing something beautiful from something forgotten.

I love the colours in this collage. I can only show a little snippet as the client has not even seen the concept yet, but its exciting!

It makes me want to sew up some patchy scarves in this colour way!

I love painting, but do not do it often enough. It felt real and absorbing to create for me and no one else. Hopefully I get the chance to do more soon. 

It did give me some new ideas for some subtle LUcÉ scarves. Shades of grey… handpainted… hmmm… we’ll see how it goes…

I am aiming to try and be a little more regular here at ‘from the fabric of life’ and try and show more things that inspire the creations from LUcÉ. So to begin the year… Here are some holiday snaps to savour.

These were taken late afternoon and at dusk while camping near the Yarrangobilly Caves in Kosciuszko National Park Snowy Mountains NSW. It was a really beautiful place.
